Decide what matters most
Choose one main reason for coming to Beijing: imperial history, neighbourhood life, museums or a Great Wall outing. Give that interest a full place in the plan before adding secondary stops. A museum morning and a long excursion should not compete for the same afternoon.
As an editorial starting point, allow four full sightseeing days. Arrival and departure time sit outside those days; a late landing does not become an extra day of sightseeing. For a shorter stay, keep the experiences you most want and remove a day rather than rushing every visit.
Shape four unhurried days
- Use one city day for your main historic visit and a nearby area, with a proper break between them.
- Keep a separate day for a Great Wall outing. Choose the section and transport after discussing walking, stairs and your preferred pace.
- Give a museum or another major visit its own space instead of combining several reservation-dependent stops.
- Leave one day flexible for neighbourhoods, food and an experience that matches your own interests.
This is a way to organise the conversation, rather than a fixed operating itinerary. Your dates, opening arrangements and preferences determine the final order.
Book the key visits first
For the Palace Museum, use the official booking information and bring the original ID used for your reservation. Check the arrangements for your actual date before booking other activities around it. A hotel reservation or a trip request does not itself secure an attraction ticket.
Choose a useful hotel base
Compare a base close to your chosen city visits with the ease of reaching your arrival and departure points. Ask for the exact hotel and room category, breakfast, access to the entrance and the walking involved in each day. A quieter room and fewer hotel moves may matter more than fitting another stop into the route.
Check your arrival airport
Beijing Capital (PEK) and Beijing Daxing (PKX) are different airports. Share the airport code and flight number when discussing a pickup. If you plan to arrive or leave by rail, give the exact station rather than only the city name.
Plan the next stop
Start with the Beijing destination overview, then compare a city-focused continuation in Shanghai with the food and river views of Chongqing. Keep the journey between bases visible in your calendar. Tell the adviser your total nights and whether you prefer to fly or travel by rail; connections and transfers need to be checked for your dates.
