A city stay with one regional day
This suggestion is for four full sightseeing days, not four calendar days including flights. Use our three-day city itinerary for the central part, then decide whether the fourth day should be a regional excursion or more time in the city.
Days one and two: central Chongqing
Explore Jiefangbei, choose a cultural visit and keep one evening for Hongya Cave. On the second day, consider the Three Gorges Museum and a shorter neighbourhood walk. Group stops instead of crossing the city repeatedly.
Day three: Dazu Rock Carvings
Dazu’s UNESCO-listed carvings offer a different focus from city sightseeing. Discuss which carving sites you want to see, the total transfer time and the walking involved. Do not add Wulong to this day. If religious art is your main interest, ask for more time with the carvings and fewer secondary stops.
Day four: leave room for your interests
Choose Ciqikou, revisit a favourite area or add a food-focused evening. A flexible day also makes the sequence easier to adjust around weather and admissions.
